Facial recognition at airports from 2022

Minister of State for Ministry of Civil Aviation General V K Singh (retd) said the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is working on a project of FRT-based Biometric Boarding System as part of the first phase of Digi Yatra Implementation at four airports.
Highlights:
- The facial recognition technology (FRT) has not yet been introduced at any of the airports in India.
- AAI is working on a project of FRT-based Biometric Boarding System as part of the first phase of DigiYatra Implementation at four airports, including Varanasi, Pune, Kolkata, and Vijayawada.
- The proposed Digi Yatra Central Eco-system is planned to go live in March 2022.

DigiYatra envisages a connected ecosystem enhancing the seamless travel experience for the passengers and simultaneously improving the security. |
