With the slogan, 'You give me blood, I will give you freedom’ Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose awakened the country towards fighting against the British.

In order to honour and remember Netaji's indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation, his birthday on the 23rd day of January is celebrated as Parakram Diwas to inspire people of country, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotic favour.

  • This year is the 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
  • Netaji was born on January 23, 1897.

On 2nd August 2021, the Government of India declared 23rd January as Parakram Diwas to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Netaji.

About Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose:

  • Subhas Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, Odisha in an affluent Bengali family.
  • In 1919 he passed the Civil Services Examination but refused to join as he did not want to serve the British Government.
  • He was highly influenced by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and considered him as his spiritual master. His political mentor was Chittaranjan Das.
  • Netaji joined the Indian National Congress in 1921.
  • In July 1943, he gave his famous slogan 'Dilli Chalo' and on 21 October 1943 announced the formation of 'Azad Hind Sarkar' and 'Indian National Army'.
  • Netaji started a newspaper called “Swaraj”.
  • Netaji's historic speech was delivered at 'Jubilee Hall' in Rangoon.
  • He had written a book called “The Indian Struggle”. The book covers the Indian Independence movement between 1920 and 1942.
  • The term “Jai Hind” was coined by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
  • Subhash Chandra Bose first addressed Gandhiji as the Father of the Nation. Mahatma Gandhi also respected him by calling him Netaji, since then Subhash Chandra Bose got the title of Netaji.
