A two-dose course of the Covishield Vaccine has been found to be 63.1% effective against SARS-CoV-2

  • A new study by scientists of Employee State Insurance Corporation Medical College (ESICMC) Hospital [Faridabad, Haryana] and The Translational Health Science and Technology Institute [Faridabad, Haryana] has reported that Covishield is 63% effective at preventing a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Highlights:

  • The result of the study shows that the two shots of Covishield gave 63% protection against symptomatic SARS­CoV2 infection and 85% protection against moderate or severe disease.
  • The effectiveness report of chA-dOx1 (Covishield) was published in an online paper by The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal on November 25.
  • The findings of the ChAdOx1 effectiveness of the Faridabad study were comparable to recent studies in England and Scotland that had reported the effectiveness of 60–67% for the vaccine against infection caused by the Delta variant.
