43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024

Why in news?

• The 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) commenced on November 14, 2024, atBharat Mandapam in New Delhi.Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the event. 
• The fair will continue until November 27, 2024.

Theme of the fair:

• The theme is Viksit Bharat @2047, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s aspirations for a prosperous India.

Aims of the trade fair:

• It aims to promote India’s vision of self-reliance by 2047. 
• The trade fair focuses on showcasing India’s ambition for economic growth.

Importance of the fair:

• It serves as a platform for local businesses to connect with international markets. 
• The fair aims to enhance consumer choice by introducing global exhibitors. It is designed to facilitate trade and investment opportunities.

Guided Pinaka Weapon System

Why in news?

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)has successfully completed the Flight Tests of Guided Pinaka Weapon System as part of Provisional Staff Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) Validation Trials.
•  The flight tests have been conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges.

What is  Pinaka Rocket launcher?

• Pinaka is  a Multiple Launch Rocket System is a totally indigenous weapon system designed and developed by the (DRDO) for the  Indian Army.
• It is also called India's Grad  missile system. 
• The system has amaximum range of 45 km (28 mi) for Mark-I Enhanced and 90 km (56 mi) for Mark-II ER version,and can fire a  salvo of 12 HE rockets per launcher in 44 seconds. 
• The system is mounted on a Tatra  truck for mobility. Pinaka saw service during the Kargil war, where it was successful in neutralizing Pakistani positions on the mountain tops.

About DRDO:

• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is an agency  under the Department of Defence Research and Development in the Ministry of Defence of the  Government of India, headquartered in Delhi, India. 
• It was formed on January 1,1958.
• Dr. Samir V. Kamat is the current chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 1st Bodoland Mohotsov

Bodoland Mohotsov 

Why in news?

• Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 1st Bodoland Mohotsov, at around 6:30 PM, on 15th November at SAI Indira Gandhi Sports Complex,  New Delhi.

About 1st  Bodoland Mohotsov :

• The two day Mahotsav is being organised on 15th and 16th November.
• It is a mega event on language, literature, and culture to sustain peace and build a Vibrant Bodo Society.

Aims of the Mohotsov:

• It aims to capitalise on the richness of cultural and linguistic heritage, ecological biodiversity and touristic potential of Bodoland.
•  It aims to integrate the indigenous Bodo people residing not only in Bodoland but also in other parts of Assam, West Bengal, Nepal, and other international border areas of the North East. 

Theme of the Mohotsov:

• The theme for the Mohotsov is ‘Peace and Harmony for Prosperous Bharat’ with focus on the rich culture, language and education of the Bodo community along with other communities from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
•  Thematic Discussion on “Indigenous cultural meet & discussion on building ‘Vibrant Bodoland’ Region through culture & tourism” will also be organised with the objective of promoting tourism and culture of Bodoland region.
•  Significantly, the Mohotsov is also about celebrating the remarkable journey of recovery and resilience ever since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord in 2020 under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

• Recently Trump appointed former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard as US intelligence chief.
• She will replace Avril Haines who has been the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) since January 21, 2021.

Function of the DNI:.

•  The DNI is the head of the United States Intelligence Community (IC) and is responsible for overseeing the National Intelligence Program (NIP). 
• The DNI is a member of the National Security Council and Homeland Security Council, and reports directly to the President.

Who is Tulsi Gabbard?

• Gabbard was elected to Hawaii's House of Representatives at 21 but had to leave after a single term following her National Guard unit's deployment to Iraq. Later, she was elected to Congress where she represented Hawaii. 
• She became the first Hindu member of the House and was sworn into office with her hand on the Bhagavad Gita.
•  She was also thefirst American Samoan elected to Congress.
