The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the immediate appointments of Senior IPS officers Alok Ranjan as Director of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) and Amit Garg as Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Alok Ranjan has been appointed as Director of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) until his superannuation on 30 June 2026.
He replaces Vivek Gogia, who has been repatriated to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
Amit Garg has been appointed as Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, with a tenure up to his retirement on 31 October 2027.
The ACC also approved the appointments of several IPS officers in CISF, CRPF, and BSF.

Historical Background
On 19 December 2017, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted Resolution A/RES/72/161, which proclaimed 23 September as the International Day of Sign Languages.
International Sign Language Day was established in 2018 by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), an organization dedicated to advocating for the human rights of the approximately 70 million deaf people worldwide.
The WFD consists of 135 national member federations, and they initiated the concept of this special day.
The day was introduced as a part of a broader celebration known as the International Week of the Deaf.
